Harriet also paints detailed watercolours from life. She finds this medium well suited to the portrayal of fine details and the effect of light, and much enjoys the challenge of painting a subject that tends to walk away during the sitting, as often happens with crustaceans. Satisfyingly, nothing is wasted - after immortalization, the subject tends to become dinner.
